Yeah, scattered rain here as well. Probably set a blind and hope for the best in a corner of a field if it is raining. Good thing is this year, the cold spring has the hay still pretty low so field hunting will be possible for a few weeks.

I hate turkeys. The last three days I went to a spot where I herd some last week.I heard them wed and yesterday.Yesterday I even watched two from a distance strutting on the powerline. They were roosting in the same place and it's a pretty easy spot to sneak into on the other side of the powerline.I go in there this morning just to verify my plan of attack and nothing lol.It doesn't mean they're not there but they still drive me nuts.I guess that's what makes it fun.I've been hunting and studying these birds to the point where it was an obsession for over 35 years.Everytime I think I know what the right conditions are, they do the exact opposite.I honestly believe that they're so stupid that you can't predict anything. Some of my best days were times when I didn't expect to hear a peep and some of my worst were days that I thought the conditions would be perfect. In any event,Good lock fellas and be safe.

Gonna hafta wait for my trip to camp for gobbler season. Maybe the weekend of May 5th? Won't really matter, because the turkeys are usually elsewhere when I do get up? Except for last spring, when I thought no one else was around and actually had return gobbles early on opening day.
Then there was shooting up the hill from me, mid morning. Turned out my cousin's son and some friends were up in there on a neighbor's woods, instead of where he'd said they were going. They missed two birds, "ruined" my morning.
Good luck to them what's venturing out in the rain.

Getting windy here. Hope that my blind that I put out this afternoon will still be up in the morning. With any luck my son will bust one in the morning. I am going solo to camp to hunt on Sunday Morning.

At the same spot I was last year when I had one spooked on me. Hopefully I can get in and out. Probably not though.

I walked up behind the house this morning for a few hours. I heard some gobbles down across near our creek. I thought about walking down off the hill and moving on it, but the neighbor only gets back on the weekends and I figured he or his boy would be after that one. He was really fired up for a short time and then came the shot, so I must have guessed right. There was less gobbling this morning that the past couple Saturdays.
I saw a few deer, and found another shed antler. I've only even found 5 or 6 sheds in my life and this little fork, along with the 5 point I found last Sunday make two in 1 week!
Just as I came out of the woods into my back yard, I heard one gobble around the hill form where I had just been, but I decide my time would better be spent on the tractor clearing some brush. A great morning!
