Last Saturday I heard a couple while I was working in the yard. This afternoon there was a long beard and six hens just a few yards from our side door scratching around a big maple tree. We see turkeys at the top of the yard often, but they only get as close as these did once or twice a year.

Have not done any dedicated listening sessions yet. That will begin next Saturday when I plan to be at one of my favorite listening posts at daylight before heading to the trout stream. Have seen quite a few lately strutting with their hens in the mornings on the way to work.

Heard a gobbler last weekend when I made a racket taking a bear box apart getting a trail cam out.
Today, just south of Wellsboro, there were 3 birds strutting in a small field.
Flushed a gobbler yesterday when I was dragging a ladder stand out.

I took the back way home this after and saw a long beard by his lonesome. Pulled up next to it and it walked off. If I were walking it would have been long gone...

You turkey people are an odd sort. Wake up prior to dawn crack, hike to some favorite tree, and stand there in the dark waiting for the ugliest bird in North America to make noise.

3 strutters and 6 hens in the field this morning. Out in front of the blind I set up last Friday. Hopefully they show Saturday morning and the decoys do their job. So my daughter gets a shot.

I've seen more gobblers fanned out in fields I drive by this spring than any year ever.

Every year I have a hen that nest behind my house. Just one. I can hear her cluck in the am, if I'm out on the deck, and in the pm....again, if I'm out on the deck. In another month or so I will see her with her brood eating my yard bugs!! I haven't been out to hear her this year.....but I hope she is still using the same set up.
