Years ago when my kids were small, rented a boat at Capt Bobs and caught a ton of croakers and some flounder. Last year wanted to try fishing with grandkids, called Capt Bobs who said no boat rentals. Any place to rent a boat and is the croaker fishing still as good as I remember.

The normal croaker run is usually last week of July running into first weeks or so of August. Last 2 years they were running but not a heavy as previous few years. Snug Harbor(link below) rents small skiffs. You can run to Chincoteague Channel from Snug Harbor although it is in Assateague Channel which also is good for croakers when they are in. I normally do well in Chincoteague Channel from Buoy no 19 on up to 23/24. Also, you can do some shore fishing at Queen Sound bridge on left shore before crossing bridge heading towards Chincoteague. If looking for a small inside charter check out: Y Knot Fishing. Capt Brian is great & really knows the waters. Snug Harbor Marina

Bistro...if you haven't fished VA for a number of years be sure to get your FIP number and carry while fishing to avoid a citation. It's free...see link below. VA FIP
