I like it about 10" thick before I venture out. How about that poor guy at Lake Aurther drowning thru the ice Dang shame. You'll never catch me our on 3" of ice.

Usually first lock-up is best as you have good clear ice. Problem now is it's almost too darn cold to ice fish...which is COLD!!

My version of ice fishing is having ice in my Crown on a 75 degree day. I did drive my Can Am across the edge of my pond today, it held it. I am very brave like that, as the spot I drove across was about 2' deep.......

Yesterday wife & I took grandson for ride past Lake Redman and there was one lone ice fisherman out. I was disappointed in seeing the snow cover on ice as not the best for the early ice bite.

Two Huts were out on Cross Creek Lake yesterday afternoon.I was goin to check the ice but didn,t.Those huts were right in the area where it is risky and has later lock up.It didn,t look good yet but today should be a lot better and I may check it out if I get a chance.I don,t have my new license yet though so it,s just a ice checkup.

I do some posting and a lot of reading on a "Modified Golf Cart" forum. A fellow posted a question asking if anyone used their cart for ice fishing. My post was to the effect "Anyone taking a 1,000lb golf cart on the ice is asking for trouble."

Loggy....when I was a kid and lived in Alameda California I use to see a lot (a lot = prolly cause the one's I saw still stick in my mind today) of these "Amphicars" running around. I read something about them not really lasting all that long before rust got to 'em. Neat car's.....errr....boats though!!

I may be prudish, but to me, I should say FOR me, fishing does NOT involve standing on ice.
