Well, due to a new job, my time upstate gets more and more compressed. Thought I was just going to spray this weekend and plant half the plot, but, sprayed yesterday, fertilized, then seeded and disced today. Rain for tonight. Should give them a good start. Drought last year was a killer. Did half regular beans and half in "deer" beans. Last time I planted the deer beans, the deer didn't touch them. Let's see if they do this time.

Nice job, good timing with the rain. Also calling for chance of rain for several more days this week, so beans will get a few more shots of water.

Last year I planted in drought conditions. Very different this year. Should get a good result.

Looks a little wet. LOL. They did very well for me last year, but our area missed the drought the most of the rest of the state had. Rain here was about perfect.

But did they eat your forage beans??? Yes. I kept them out for a while with the fence. Looking back I should have taken down the fence a little sooner. They hit the pods pretty good in Nov-Dec.

Got to check the beans last weekend. RR beans were doing well. Good germination, and not many weeds. The "deer" beans got poor germination, and some spots just full of red root weeds. Figured in 2-3 weeks the red root would take over, go to seed and cause me grief. I killed the plot off with Roundup, and then sprayed the RR beans with roundup.
Not sure what I'll plant in place.
My beans were about 6 inches tall and coming along nicely. Not much sign of deer hitting them, tho there were some tracks.
Brothers and I spend some time cleaning up after the loggers and fixing water bars they destroyed.
Landowner not real happy that the water bars and final grading of skid roads wasn't done yet.
Hung one trail cam, and checked the one that was up, not much on it.

My beans are getting hit pretty good. They are making no headway. They did not come in real thick, so, a bit disappointed at that.
I had a pretty clean slate after the Roundup spraying. The plot disced up nicely. I spread sunflower seed and fertilizer first, then disced. I then spread my brassica mix, then cultipacked.

And I cannot figure out how to use the Shutterfly phone app to post pics, and they don't transfer to the account on the computer.
Frustrating.

All I get is a ? mark in a blue box when I post it. I have to find how to fix it or find another photo hosting site.

Ok Dutch... #1 there are no deer in Potter county to destroy beans in such a manner. Pretty sure its all the crows up there eating your beans. # 2 you are posting pictures again. Do tell how you are doing this.

I use a droid. Tap on reply to topic Scroll to bottom where their is 2 choices for display, desk top or dashboard.......click on "desk top" Scroll back up and click on "add attachment". I then choose "documents" Then "photos" Then click the one I want and hit done, it takes a minute to upload, then the line turns green and you have the option to click on "insert" .........which adds the pic to post.........then click create post.......all done.
Took the pic of those birds from inside my house yesterday morning.
