Shot a 42 lb female yote in Potter County during deer season 2011. Finally got the tanned hide back. Gal has plans for it, that may not match mine. LOL Notice, its as long as she is tall, about 5 1/2 feet.

TY FT. My "plans" don't match Dutch's; but the ONLY reason it is tanned - HE WANTED TO LET IT LAY IN THE WOODS- is because I asked him to bring it OUT of the woods and TAN it. He wants it on the wall. I want to WEAR it.

Never thought it would turn out so well.

How about this? I wear it in winter, you display it the rest of the year? Win/win for both of us!

Very nice Dutch!! Here's mine from a few years back: That would really freak my dog out. By the way- she looks eerily similar to the yote Brad killed.

Nice looking pelt! Is that a Hunter Dan in the background? That Hunter Dan is part of a yearly award given by our sportsman club. Gal and I got it for our good deeds. Some might dispute that I do anything good there tho. LOL There is always an "old grump"........ And no, I don't mean JohnS!

I saw 2 last year and killed this one. The other one, he and I came around a curve in a log trail in the semi dark of morning. Man, did he turn tail and disappear in a flash. I had a bow, so, no shot.
About 6 years ago, I jumped 2 in an open timbercut and watched them run down the side of the mountain. Had a flinter and probably should have just thrown a shot. The one was very close to me. I was actually tracking them because the tracks seemed smoking hot. Guess they were.

My brother gave my yote to a friend that was sending furs out to be tanned. It was about $20 to have it tanned.

Gal, with that thing draped around your neck you brought back memories of my youth sitting in the church pew and the "blue haired" ladies with their mink stoles staring at me. lol ;D
Oh by the way, nice pelt Dutch....Gal was right in talking you into having it tanned.

Muab, PLEASE don't ever encourage her by saying she was "right"! LOL Actually, my brother was the first to mention having it tanned when he saw it, right after I killed it. I just like to let her think she had some say in it....... ouch...... ouch.....

I am going to send a few photos to the Gal, Dutch:) With just few brain tan hides...well, it could be new fashion statement???... and I do specialize in fabrication..with inconspicuous, if any...alteration:) You should see what my daughter-in-law looks like in brain tan buckskin garment...that can be/could be reverted to three full hides with three snips of the knife...on a handful of hand stitches. And I have my eye on a very similar black shoulder cross yote...like yours....seen twice in the course of the just passed deer season.................. Congrats...a 'trophy' in every sense of the word..... ed

I just like to let her think she had some say in it....... ouch...... ouch..... Because your brother was THERE maybe? And his girlfriend is HIS priority- he's having her WHAT made? All I wanted was a $20 pelt. If you want me to get expensive, I can do that.

I saw a nice big coyote here in Lebanon co. in fall turkey. I had my .30-06 leaning on a log and by the time I picked it up the 'yote had vanished into some pines. All my other chances at them have come in archery season (here in Lebco) and I find them too wary to get to full draw on. Interestingly I've never seen a coyote while hunting in Sullivan co. This thread reminds me I have a bear rug I have to get at the taxidermist.
