It does. I just think about all the people that raised me. All the people I looked to when I needed answers or help. They're all gone. Now it's just me and Lord knows I don't have the answers Every one of those people imparted some knowledge onto you. Some good, some bad. Take the good and live life. Keep the good memories and let the bad go. You'll be ok. It's not easy tho. Took me a while to get over losing my dad, he was a good man with a good heart. But life goes on. Well said

Now it's just me and Lord knows I don't have the answers You have people looking to you for those answers and for the help now. Might be corny, but I often think of the words in a Jackson Browne song-- "… And somewhere between the time you arrive And the time you go may lie the reason you were alive, but you'll never know…

Seems as though message boards are becoming a sensation of the past. I've mentioned this before, but it's a precipitous decline now. There are boards with 30,000 plus members that barely generate more than a few threads per day for conversation. So, before I have to bid all of you cyber people that I've never met farewell, I thought I'd start a thread that is all encompassing as a parting gift. It's general, and you can get anything and everything off your chest. I'll start. I had no idea (well until yesterday), that Todd Rundgren was from Upper Darby, Delaware County PA. rofl Seven years ago and you are still among us! 😂

This board has wayyy more "Guests" than it has members. A fresh post goes out, and the "Guests" swarm to that sub-fourm. Kinda reminds me of bees swarming. Who are these "Guests" that are so anonymously active around the hive ?

I have 63 different accounts so most of those guests are me. The more people online the more money Dutch makes. Just trying to help him out.

Well well....here we are the last trading day of 2023!! Life is good!! Bring on 2024!!!! The last trading day of 2023 has arrived and Wall Street appears to be taking a breath after a muscular year-end rally pushed stocks close to record highs.
The S&P 500 (^GSPC) hovered near an all-time closing high of 4,796.56. The benchmark average increased just 0.02% on Friday morning. Meanwhile the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) added 0.05%, or about 20 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) was just over the flatline.
While stocks were little changed during the first hour of trading, the major indexes powered through a year of economic uncertainty. The Dow has risen more than 13% for the year. The S&P enjoyed gains of nearly 25% and the Nasdaq has swelled 44% year-to-date......and it continures the last 2 days with BOTH the DOW & S&P breaking ALL TIME RECORD HIGHS!!

Please keep in mind that the stock market is NOT the economy. Think of the stock market as an auction where people bid on stocks. If they think the stock will increase in value, they buy it. If not, they sell it. sometimes they are right and sometimes wrong. Over the long term, up is usually the direction, except for when it isn't. While the market often reflects the economy, it sometimes does not. What the market is responding to is the huge increase in the money supply available to investors, not the huge national debt we have run up by printing money and spending what we don't have. It eventually will respond to that.

Please keep in mind that the stock market is NOT the economy. Well all depends on real life economic definitions. With 401(k) plans now holding over $7 trillion in assets along with over 80% of American workers covered under employer sponsored tax deferred/equity type securities/plans...the stock markets sustained positive performance is a critical component of a majority of Americans so called status of the "economy". In effect the stock market......is many's "personal economy". Years past the question was how much is your defined befefit pension payments gonna be when retiring......this ain't no longer the case.

The quarterly 401K statements shape peoples perception of how they are doing. Market down, depressed. Market up, elation.
I know that having my retirement funds go down 40% when Covid hit had a sobering effect. That said, every stock I have pays a dividend, so that mitigated some of the pain.

So, with Trump well on his way to the nomination, will moderates, independents and the few Republicans that can't stand the man sink him again in the general? I guess Republicans are willing to take that chance again, and if they lose, blame it on a fraudlulent election.
