Turkey is lucky I hardly ever hunt them. If they had antlers it be different. You need to buy a Turk-a-lope tag and ask more questions........

Add two more gobblers that joined the party in my morning travels. Now have one group of three longbeards and another group of two. Will see if they hold together over the next week or two as this is the week the patterns typically change down here.

Uh oh. No gobblers in one of the spots this morning. The other had two on the usual routine. Hens disappearing. Thinks some are sitting.

Only one gobbler this morning. Watched him breed a hen two times. They are in a good spot if they stay there.

I'm getting pretty excited about it. Like I said before I've only been out spring turkey one other time with my son. I bought a new 20ga, some calls probably a new outfit. At least I will look like I know what I'm doing. Seriously though I have been practicing the calls and watching videos and going to try the first couple times by myself to see what happens. If I can get at least one to talk back I will consider that a success.

Only one gobbler this morning. The other spot there was a lone hen so I assume one of more gobblers were still not visible when I took a peek. Hens are disappearing so I am confident many are already sitting on their eggs down here.
I took a 230 mile drive yesterday. No wonder the guys that live up north or in central Pa think our season is timed perfectly. Most areas were 2-3 weeks behind SW Pa as far a foliage.

One gobbler in each spot this morning. One had one hen. The other was by himself looking for love.

Yep. Things are moving along fast this year. Certainly a trend over the past 10-15 years. We will officially be the last turkey hunters in the country to start hunting when we start Saturday. Even Ontario has been hunting for 10 days, lol............
I telling ya, I am going to see poults this year very soon. The season should be moved up at least a week or even two to adjust to our earlier springs.
As I suspected, the gobblers I have been watching changed their patterns. None in either spot this morning. I usually see them starting to bachelor back up by mid to late May here, but that may happen earlier this year.

I heard my first gobbler this morning in the past 2 1/2 weeks.Prior to that they were gobbling like crazy.I also just found out that one of my main roosting spots will be getting a shelterwood cut next week lol.

.I also just found out that one of my main roosting spots will be getting a shelterwood cut next week lol. That stinks. I lost my favorite roost a few years ago to logging. There was usually one or two toms there to rely on every year but it hasn't been the same since.

Blanks this morning. That was my last check before heading in next week before work. One spot I can use the shotgun, the other I will be using the crossbow due to safety zone issues. Hopefully they are still in the area but I have not seen them in several days.

Good luck to anybody headed out. Doesn't look like many here have much interest chasing toms.

Due to the pending washout all of next week,my level of enthusiasm isn't that great.I'll probably sit the first week out.I hunt turkeys to hear them gobble and call tem in.Killing one is pretty low on my list of priorities.

Good luck to anybody headed out. Doesn't look like many here have much interest chasing toms. Good luck to you as well. I told my son if it's storming or pouring down rain then I am out. Otherwise I will be out bright and early. I haven't hunted much the last couple years so I am really looking forward to it.

I love to hunt and fish. When I was young, didn’t matter what the weather was. Today….if it’s raining I’ll be in my garage doing things such as fly tying or firearm maintenance.
And I tell ya…..tying those little bugs legs to hooks is really hard!!!
