I used a 20 gauge from age 12 until sometime in my early 20's. When I switched to the 12 I grew to appreciate the 12 and have never been able to bring myself to switch back. I have gone larger yet for certain applications

The first shotgun I bought was an Ithica Model 37 Featherweight. Wish I'd never gotten rid of that, I killed a bunch of doves with that.
I have no regrets switching to my new 20 semi. Much lighter gun than the 12 I was using. I'm using three inch shells for pheasants, and have done pretty well.
Having some neck issues that are aggravated by carrying heavier guns, I'm pretty happy that this gun allows me to hunt for a few hours without issues

I prefer 12 ga. Mossberg pump. I use it for turkey and ducks. My gun has been in the watter almost as much as I have, Lots of deep mud where I hunt. I just swish the Mossburg in the water to get the mud out of it and clean good when I get home. Never an issue, My best sit 3 in a row. For turkeys #5 work best for me with a fill choke. Mine has screw in chokes. 00small67842211 1.jfif (26.22 KB)

I converted my Browning Gold 12 ga 3.5" semi to a dedicated turkey gun. Had it drilled & tapped w/scope mounted w/Trulock Chock with special constriction for Heayweight #7 TSS. Still have my dad's ole Browning Belgium made lightweight A-5 12 ga 2.75" for small game & grouse. It was beat-up so had reblued & stock refinished. Looks like new. It's light as a feather compared to my Browning Gold. This 72 year old can still tote without any issues(as of yet)! My turkey gun

Big fan of Ithaca model 37 Featherlite. Especially the old ones you can slam fire. Got my fall turkey with a single shot Savage 410 last year. 30 yard shot.

So I picked up the Franchi Affinity 3 last weekend, and now I am looking to put red dot on it. Can anyone recommend a good scope mount for the Affinity 3? It's is drilled and tapped from the factory.

I ended up buying a Sumtoy mount and a Vortex Venom Red Dot 6 MOA. Anyone have any experience with either.

I have a low power Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.75-4x32mm with Circle-X Reticle on my turkey shotgun. It makes switch going from from what I have on my deer rifles totally seamless. Never been a fan of red dot sights on long guns. Ok on handgun applications.

I never tried TTS in my 12 but I just wasnāt impressed with it in a 20 . My turkey gun is a Winchester 1300, with an extra full choke that came with it and # 5 shot, 12 gage 3āmag. Iām not a big turkey hunter but usually get out a couple of times in the spring. I also like to work the bird in to 40 yards or less, hopefully less. One year at camp I called 2 gobblers in at the same time. Couldnāt get them to come any closer than 40 and they went back down over the small ridge I was on. I started calling aggressive and dang they came back , but still hung up at 40 yards. Figure Iāve kill turkeys that far so took a bead on the biggest oneās head and pulled the trigger, he flew away.š¤£ I thought what heck, but headed back to camp. When I got home I went to clean the gun and saw I had forgot to change the choke tube from the previous fall when I had used it grouse hunt, it had the improve cylinder in it.š¤£š¤£

I have a Burris on my 22 Buckmark. I like it a lot. But, to turn it off and prevent the battery from draining it must be covered with the plastic shroud it comes with. I also have a Holosun red dot that has a "shake awake" on\off feature. I like that as I can just toss the firearm into the safe and the unit turns off after a short period of no movement.

Several years ago I picked up a Franchi (I think it's the Instinct model) from a guy I use to shoot with. He needed some money and I like his shotgun. This shotgun was fitted with two O\U barrels. One 12ga and a second 20ga. I actually bought it for my wife so she could shoot trap\skeet.
I sent the stock to GRACO and had an adjustable buttplate and comb installed on the stock. My wife is short in stature so I had GRACO cut the stock to the shortest position that, when the buttplate was extended it would be back to factory length. Then I adjusted it to take off about 2" LOP for her. It's a nice shotgun, nothing fancy on it. I've used it for shooting trap and skeet and it balances well and with the 20ga barrels its recoil is mild.
