Recently acquired a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, trying to figure out what scope to install. So far, the vast majority of folks I've talked to have recommended a Vortex scope. Planning on it being primarily used for ground hog hunting. Figured I'd see if anyone on here has some experience with them.
Most of my current rifles have Burris scopes.

I've really been impressed by Vortex. I think that's where I'd put my money

Had a Vortex Crossfire scope on a 22. Decent quality but wasn't pleased with the sponginess of the turret adjustments.....a common criticism on Vortex. IMO....optic glass clarity was also a notch below a comparably priced Leupold. Pretty sure the Vortex higher end line has Jap vs Chinese glass which I haven't had a chance to look through. IMO......hard to beat the Leupold Freedom VX line for the $$.

I bought two Crossfire 2s this year. Gosh, for $140 hard to beat it. I do like the positive clicks on the turrets.

Oh shoot, my brother bought one of their upscale binocs and loves them. I bought my daughter one of the lower end 10x42s, and I was pleased, and so is she.

I traded a Leopould Vari-X 3-9 for a Vortex Crossfire 4-12 two years ago and am very happy with it. A lot brighter than the old one was. Even got $100 trade on the Leopould. My dad has bought a number of brands of scopes over the years and he runs all Vortex now.

Been turning to Vortex more and more. I have several Crossfires, which are excellent for the money. One Diamondback which is exceptional. After owning several Leupolds and Burris scopes over the years, I believe Vortex are better than both at the comparable price points.

Agree......especially considering not going to find a Leupold at a Vortex Crossfire price point of $140. Todate ALL Leo scopes are made in Beaverton, Oregon by their 700 American craftsmen. They do import glass from Japan etc but actual scope manafacturing components & scope assembly is 100% based in USA. With price range $300 on down Vortex will always beat Leo as there's no Leo's mfg in that price range. All Vortex scopes are 100% outsourced to PRC, Phillippines etc. Both Leo & Vortex have unsurpassed warranties. Vortex does have future plans to mave their scope manaufacturing to the USA per a news release last year.
Botomline.....really can't go wrong with either make. Good review below:

Thanks for the input.
I find it interesting how closely the opinions here mirror the reviews I've read online.
I'm planning to get the Diamondback 6-24x50 tactical with the 30mm tube. It also is a FFP(First focal plane) scope. All the scopes I have now are of the SFP variety. It has always bothered me the way the gradations change depending on the power setting.
I'd love to put a Leupold on it, but their cost doesn't fit in my current budget allowance.

My first Creedmoor with, I think, 143 grain bullets and 4350, shot less than a half inch. Very first group after sighting it in. Ruger American Predator.
I now use 120 grain bullets for hunting, so not looking for accuracy, but it sure is capable of some incredible accuracy. Best group was 5/16th

Agree......especially considering not going to find a Leupold at a Vortex Crossfire price point of $140. ; Correct. The Vortex Diamondback is currently where the competition begins against Leuopold currently. Leuplod's budget scopes used to the Rifelman series, which I think are discontinued. My buddy has several of them and I felt they were inferior to other scopes at that price point. Made in America comes at a cost and they probably couldn't compete for that budget market.

It's my understanding that back around the mid 2,000's when Leupold acquired Redfield from Mead Optical the Rifleman line was a low end Redfield model that Leupold marketed under the Leupold name & renamed as The Rifleman. It was an obvious blunder by Leupold. I think Meade Optical also spun off the Weaver line too. These low end scopes were mainly sold thru Kmart, Wally, Dicks and some others. It sold for about a $100-200 less than Leupolds proven VX series. Leupold was hoping to gain more of the low end market share. Leupold has since discontinued the Rifleman line & in fact has disposed of it's Redfield operations selling it to the Academy Sports conglomerate in 2021.

Yes....I saw them at $300. I heard they were great scopes. Likely what I will buy for my next gun. I have a Vari-X II & III 3-9's(on my 06 & 6.5CM) and a VX2 2-7 on a ML.

Like Ridge said, made in America comes at a price. I've long preferred Nikon to Leupold and now I prefer Vortex.

One of my favorite scopes is an ole Bushnell Elite 3200(Made in Japan) I have on my CZ 550 Mannlicher stocked 6.5 Swede. High quality Jap glass that I think I paid around $200 15 years ago. They were manufactured by Light Optical Works in Suwa City, Japan.

A punk with no money back in the 70's and early 80's, slapped a $39 Bushnell Banner 3x9 on his rig and called it a day. When something broke, which it normally would after a fair amount of time, pitch it and slap another on. The optics were just fine for anybody not looking to drive tacks at 300 yards. Talk about "price point". LOL To this day, the Banner scopes outfit rigs for the entirety of Fayette County.

With that said I've used a lot of Leupolds in the last 15 years and only had one fail on me. I just don’t like to pay Leupold money
