It's a weird situation. When I had one trail camera I felt I needed two and then two became three and..... now I have 6 cameras out and I feel I need at least two more.
Yesterday we cleared and mowed a wide path in an area that has not been mowed in at least 5 years. It is between some terrific swampy-creek side habitat and woods to the north but close to agriculture on the east.
The area is at the far end of our property that I seldom get to and was mostly 6 foot high very thick weed-grass, cone flowers, goldenrod, multiflora etc, but it mowed up really nice. First thing I thought of is....I need a camera down here.
Of course, with bucks getting into scrape mode, I am hesitant to move any from known scrape trees.
So I found an add today for (2) Moultrie No Glow Invisible 12 MP Mini A20i Infrared Game Cameras for around $166.00 for the pair, including an SD card. There are good reviews on that camera and the price for 12 mp no glo was very reasonable. Bingo, order placed!

I hope they work out for you. I have a camera coming from a new company called Exodus. They have a 5 year warranty and will even replace the camera if it is stolen at 50% off. I am currently running 4 cameras and plan to add a few more this fall.

I have been using Moultries for years but have no idea what I would now buy. Mine have a slow trigger, the new ones are supposed to be faster?
Did see they now have a plan where they text the pics to you, for $20 a month. The cameras ain't cheap tho and you need cell service.

I am still using my Moultrie from ten years ago. It still works like the day I bought it. Actually, I loan it to the kid across the street. He set's it up behind my house and monitors it. I now have two mama doe and one of 'em has her 1st year fawn, and the other has her twin 1st year fawn's that play tag. They are fun to watch.....when they trigger the camera.....I get a picture of nothing!!!!

I considered "Muddy" and a few others before going with Moultree. I suppose I finally decided on these because Moultree has been around for a while, and I have tow of them already that perform ok. The price for the features - 12MP and no glo - was the best I could find and they come with two SD cards. But mostly I just got tired of reading reviews and all the endless features.

I have had good luck with Moultrie cameras, but bought a couple of Browning cams this past year which I really like. Trigger speed is good for some applications, but if on a food source it really isn't that necessary.

You can never have too many trail cams I'm running about 20 in three counties right now. My new fav cameras right now are Browning. Cebelas usually seem to run good deals on them too. Good luck w/ your new sets and make sure you post up the pics down in the trail cam section

A guy I know who has more money than any sane man should have, and is a fanatic about deer and hunting, has been through just about every make of camera. He likes the Brownings the best.
I use a couple covert black ops wireless cameras. Nice to get pics sent to my phone. AT&T $15/mo.
Oh, I should mention the one camera is 4 years old. Still working fine.

The poor deer don't have any privacy.

I have a trail cam, but does anyone else kinda feel like they are cheating by using them in place of on the ground scouting?
I can see how they could get to be n addiction. I keep the one I have on a tree along the back of the yard and it's like checking traps without the work of skinning and fleshing any critters. Other than a mock scrape once in a while, I never put bait or anything in front of it

I use them to get pictures of bears, turkeys, deer, coyotes,,,etc. etc. not necessarily to scout an area for hunting. I like knowing what critters are passing through but it sure doesn't change any hunting tactics as i also am very involved in checking for rubs and scrapes.

This past year I've gone "old school" and put feet on the ground scouting. I've just about given up on using cams on public land as I've had two stolen and they seem to be, at least to me, "disposable" instruments. Sure loved to see pics all year round but it just ain't worth it to me anymore. Heck, the nice shooters I was looking at all last year never did show up to shake my hand during any deer season last year. Bought a cheap ($38) refurbished cam in the spring but the trigger time is so slow it's not the best. Was going to put it back out after spring gobbler season but never did. Sign is showing up now and cam or no cam I'm hoping for a great season.

I'm still stuck in the 1960's hunting methods and technology.

I like the Browning Cams. I have 2 of them. Only issue I had is I couldn't use an SD Card that was in a Wildgame Camera I have unless I reformated the card. If you put the card in after being in the Wildgame, it would only take a couple of pictures. Fixed the problem, by keeping separate SD Cards for the Browning Cams or reformat the card on the computer.

Fixed the problem, by keeping separate SD Cards for the Browning Cams or reformat the card on the computer. I ran in to formatting issues a year or so back and now I format each card every time I use it. I have spare cards for every camera. I take them with me when checking cams. I pull the cards and put new ones in on the spot and when I've taken the pictures off I simply click on "format" so they're ready to go the next time. Hint. If you have a lot of cameras, (we have about 17 total), order large packs --- like quantity of 20 or 24 of SanDisk 8GB.....very cheap when purchased in quantity.

I won't put a cam out without a box. My cameras get harassed all the time, multiple times per week.
Above pic was taken by Gal as she sat in a blind. Bear came out of the woods, walked right over to the camera and had his pic taken.

Is that how big bear boxes are? I put my on public land and that would tell everybody where my camera is.
