First day of deer season, I'm going to be working, but come the end of the week, I'm SO looking forward to taking Gfanik on his first Big Wood deer hunt!
I have it planned out already and he'll be in one of the best stands on our land, so, if things work out, he should at least see a deer, as it's in a great travel corridor. My buddy saw 14 antler less and an 8 point there the first day of bear, so, with a little pressure, I hope he gets a shot.
Where ya'll gonna be the first day?

Just west of Montrose in the woods. Off an ooooolllllldddd logging road.
If a turkey swoops down in front of me out of the sky like a ninja like last year's opener, I'm going to be angry...!

Burgettstown, Washington County. I'll sit for an hour or so at daybreak, and then take it to the deer. Can't wait!

2d Armstrong county, not in my preferred stand but a good one traditionally. I've had good luck recently so not too concerned with getting a buck. I just hope my grandpa and dad get one.

Brad, I'll be hunting with a 30/40 Krag with Iron Sites. What are you using? Bow is put away for the year and the Flinter will be out after xmas.

Anybody using an Atlatl? I haven't decided yet where I will be, or if I will be. We have so many really nice bucks here on the shore that I might stick it out here. If so, it will be the first time in 55 years that I miss the PA gun season opener. Good Luck to all. ..

Glenn, yet another dandy. I guess I'll stay down hill from all of the action, on the side of a ravine. Good viewing opportunity. Model 7 243.

Michaux St. Forest/Pine Grove Furnace area. Me and my 700 Rem. in 300 Savage watch'n the sun rise! Couple of nice ones in the area as always but they never seem to want to say "hello" during buck season. Maybe this year. Good to get the blood stir'n though. Luck to you all and enjoy the hunt regardless whether you're successful or not. Gotta love this time of year! Muab Dib

I'll be nearly 200 yards behind my son's house , and along with my grandson, we'll be waiting for heck to break loose on Game Lands #43, and hope that the ruckus sends a deer or two our way. The grandson will be in his tree stand with his scoped shotgun, and I have a comfortable rock beside a huge white oak to lean myself and my flintlock against. Good luck to all, and be safe.

I'm limited where I can go because my 7 year old son will be with me and hopefully, doing all the shooting.I plan on staying fairly close to home and hunting some sort of funnel that will offer a relatively close, still shot.I got a few places in mind but most likley won't know for sure until about 5:00am monday morning. He's already having trouble sleeping this week so it must be in his DNA.

I'll be somewhere in Lebanon county. Probably either SGL 145 or 211. I'll have a Husqvarna carbine 30-06.

I'll be sitting with my Granddaughter here in western Clarion co waiting for her to fill her tag.
One of my Sons made it home again this year, after many years in the service and not being in the States for hunting season. He was home last year for all of rifle season and is doing the same this year.
He picked out a favorite spot that my Dad used for many years.
Hunting with my Granddaughter & my Son (her favorite Uncle) is priceless.
May the Red Gods look down on everyone, be safe and enjoy making memories.
