We lost our walkway going out to our dock at high tide (12:13 this afternoon). It's a slow moving nor'easter, the worst will be at 12:45 a.m Saturday...high tide. Crap happens. The good news is that my friends that live there all year are doing okay. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Mother nature and her fury, I hope the best for the folks that live there, times like these don't make it easy.
Hows fresh water and electric holding out?

According to my neighbors, so far so good. We had 10 inches of water around the house at high tide last night. I was there yesterday & moved my boat off the island, got as much as I could out of the garage, turned off the water & electric. I made a mistake on the tides, high tide will be at 6:30 tonight, (I expect 24 to 30 inches of water around the house, hoping the breakaway walls hold up. Low will be about 12:30 am...that's good. All in all, I'm making out great.

Im sure its a learning experience, its always good to take notes and make a list of what you will do different next time, be safe and send us some pics of the aftermath. I was on my boat when a tornado went through Conneaut harbor, when you put high winds and heavy rain together the effects are incredible.
Good luck!

Main thing none of your friends have suffered injury. Property assets can always be replaced. My place on the west Chincoteague Bay in VA is sitting pretty high so is in good shape. I'm sitting about 15' above sea level overlooking the bay so it would take a catastrophic storm to cause any problems. The barrier Assateague Islands absorbs a lot of the easterly storm hits pretty well.

Be in Avalon 11AM tomorrow. The wedding coordinator called & said was ok. Sounds like that area was spared.
