I haven't priced out the cost of a box of reloads for awhile. Much of my reloading stuff was purchased back before Obama got elected for the first time, so the cost per box is still about the same as it was then with the exception of a couple of cans of powder and a box or two of bullets. Back then, it cost me less than $4.00 to load a box of 20 for my .257 Roberts. I think it was about $12.00 for a box of .300 Weatherby with 180 grain Nosler partition bullets. I think I'm gonna keep on reloading.

It's a real 'brush buster' fer sure! Loaded with 200 gr. bullets deflection through normal shooting conditions here in the Blue Ridge is minimal. Often thought about a 35 for my encore rifle, Is that what you have your on?

It's closer to $10+/20 depending on what type of bullets and how much case capacity.I can reload piles of .223 for very little money and that's generally what we use to target practice with.

I always felt that there were two advantages to reloading other than the cost, Doug. I get to use much better quality bullets, and my accuracy is excellent. The second is not as big an issue as it was thirty years ago. Quality control is much better in the ammo factories. I have a hard time doing better than the accuracy of Federal Premiums.

I reload first and foremost because I'm a control freak.Second,I never have to look for ammo.Third,We shoot way too much not to.

Shydas in Lebanon has .35 Remington ammo in stock. It's the Hornady Leverevolution of course since Remington Core-Lokts are apparently on the endangered list and I haven't seen Federal or Winchester in a Coons age.

Usually pick up a coupla boxes of 30-06 Rem. in 150gr for my cousin that looks after camp. I wait until most of the big box stores have it on sale and there's usually a rebate coupon. 'Course I generally forget to send the rebates in. Two years ago Bass Pro had a different box than the usual green/yeller Core Lokt box, at a slightly lower price. Whitetail Pro, same 150gr Core Lokts. I loaded 150gr Speer Hot Cors for that cousin for a very long time and he was happy, then my huntin' bud started bringing him two boxes of 150gr Core Lokts each fall and spoiled him.

Don't he know you can't kill deer with Core-Lokts?

He pretty much kills deer with whatever he has to shoot 'em with and has been doing that for the past 56 years since he was 12. Although he and I have both slacked off a bit in the past two years.
After so many deer over 50+ years, the edge kinda goes off some.
30-30, 12ga slugs all the years he lived/farmed in NY and a 30-06 since his wife favored him with that over 35 years ago.
Finally got over to the local gun shop tonight. He has 35 Rem. 200gr Core Lokts for $30, including tax. Still part of a case left.

Didn't see 'em when I was in his shop Friday night, but now "my" guy sez he also has some 35 Rems in 150gr Core Lokts?
I like 150gr Core Lokts in my 30-30, but the 200 grainers work so well in the Marlin 35, never bothered with anything else.
Have dies for both and 150gr Sierra flat noses for the 30-30, so ammo will never be a problem if I find some 200gr bullets for the 35. No more than I shoot either, not an issue.
I like the 170gr Hornady flat nose in my 32 Special. They've worked as well or better than anything else, including Core Lokts or Silvertips. Neither my son nor I have killed deer with a factory round from that rifle in the past 25 years.

I shot a deer with a .35 Remington 150 Core Lokt. A 100 yard shot and the bullet fragmented into a thousand pieces. Seriously, lung shot and there were fragments up at the ear!

Found 200 grain Core Lokts in .35 Rem at both Kerper's in Bowmansville and Weaver's in Fivepointville.

Whitetail doe at 50 yds. Frontal shot/Remington 700 in 300 Savage w/handloaded Remington 150 gr. Core-Lokt PSP at 2550 fps. No issues here Mike.

Muab, I said .35 Remington 150 Core-Lokt. Your .300 is apples to oranges.

Back in the day Mike Core-Lokts were very much manufactured the same way depending on caliber. Those 150 gr. 35's were likely RN but the construction would have been the same, same if they were PSP's. Remington began making the jackets thinner quite a number of years ago on a lot of their Core-Lokts which changed their performance dramatically. They then felt the need to make "Ultra" Core-Lokts" a few years back essentially bringing back the performance of the "old" Core-Lokts. My handloads for my 300 Savage are from a box of 1000 "old" Core-Lokts and they've never failed to perform as they should, in both 300 Sav and 30-06.

The construction is ENTIRELY different just from .30 150 to .30 180. Just look at a picture of them sawed in half.

Now the Core Lokt 180 was thinned out about ten years ago so they may be similar now. But prior to that it wasn't even close. Also the SD is very different between.30 and .35 offerings.

I have no beef with Core Lokts either. I use them. Believe me, I'm not one of these guys that puts them down. Lately I've been running 220 Core Lokts through my Rem. 760.
