They just showed on live TV a man that set himself on fire in front of the courthouse where Trump is. They didn't realize it was a person when they put the camera on him and immediately removed it.
This coupled with the anti-israel protests going on nearby, NYC is a powder keg.

America is becoming a power keg. I go nowhere any more without exercising my concealed carry permit, if allowed.

We took the Bible out of our schools 2 generations ago and the devil moved in. Those same generations were sent off to college where they were radicalized more, and until we change our ways with education it will only get worse. This country was built on christian principals, and unless we get back to our roots it will only get worse.

He was just a child molesting rapist anyway He was a founding father that one should assume is responsible for helping build this country on "Christian Principles". His views are certainly part of any such discussion.

Those people didn't make this a Christian nation. The everyday common men and women made up the moral fabric of this nation. The leaders have always been flawed

A person does not need to chapter\verse the Bible or follow any organized religion to be a good person. I will admit though that attending Church on Sunday's and listening to the sermons plus some personal reflection certainly clears the head and provides a better focus.
There are many documented tragedies that organized religion has inflected upon followers in the past. And I'm not speaking of those fringe religions but mainstay ones.
I'm not saying the church(s) are bad and don't attend. But I think it's a choice that needs made. As for the mixing of religion into schools, if that's what a parent wants they can send their kids to private christian schools.

My one exception is mixing religion into schools. I believe a basic, a very basic course in Christianity should be taught. If nothing else included it in the early history of America. It played a big part in the founding of the United States.

But my wife being a retired public school teacher I can tell you should something like that be considered, there is a line of "fuzzy" that occurs. And as to which part of the "fuzzy" you are on it can get a bit sticky. My wife taught Art. During her employment she had a few Jehovah's Witnesses kids. The parents insist their kids have zero exposure to even things like a Christmas tree drawing, or a Jewish menorah. No Easter bunnies. The kid left the room when the Pledge of Allegiance was performed. No making of a mask at Halloween. My wife did a lesson around Halloween and her lesson plan was called "abstract faces". The kids were instructed to take construction paper and design an abstract face. (Looked a whole bunch like a mask). The parents were livid. They wanted my wife repremanded because her kid was making a mask for Halloween. Her lesson plan never used the word "mask" and if the other kids called it a mask she corrected them and told them to call it an abstract face. Her Principal read her lesson plan and stood up for my wife. So....there you have it. 30 plus kids all wanting to make a mask for Halloween and one kids parents essentially waiting with drawn bows at the first hint of violating their religion.

As a much younger man, I read that one of them described God as a fine clockmaker who made the earth, wound it as he would a clock, and set it on a shelf to rundown while mankind was left to live and treat others as it saw fit. Judgement would come later. It was too long ago for me to remember who was supposed to have said it-probably Jefferson, Washington or Franklin? They all live lifestyles we may question now, but then how will we be judged for our choice a few generations from now?

I would suggest that you read the first four books of the Old Testament in the Bible, you will quickly realize how wrong that statement is. God had a set of strict rules that his people had to follow, and if they didn’t he dealt with them severely. Take Moses and the Isrelities exodus from Egypt to the promise land as an example. It should only have taken them about a month to get there, but do the peoples "Thick Headedness” as God put it, it took them 40 years. Only Joshua and Caleb who left Egypt lived to see the promise land because of their steadfast faith in the Lord. God made sure of it.

I do not agree with the thoughts of this founding father when it comes to God and his creation. I merely pointed to it as a common view of a deist.

I believe Jefferson was probably one of the greatest Americans of his time but can't agree with much that he did to the bible to create the Jeferson Bible. He certainly had his way with his slave women. But, no one is perfect, and we shouldn't judge a man of his time, by today's standards
