Nobody went out? I was up in Erie County drinking with college kids during homecoming weekend Friday and Saturday. Weather was nice up there yesterday but I understand most of the state was getting rained on. I got some texts of some pretty good bucks and some does hitting the ground.

Colton nailed a good one in the morning. They were moving late as it was about 815 AM when he got him. 3 buck running together. This is the best buck on the trail cams at home.

I went out in the morning and had 2 under me before light. Saw not a tail once it got light. Passed on the evening hunt. A little to much rain for my liking. My neighbor saw 6 in morning and passed on small 7pt.

Better than an ass-load of older men standing in a stream, bundled up and looking like like so many Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men, freezing their collective as$es off ? Say it ain't so.

My son and I have had a very eventful archery season so far. On 10/8 he was able to fill his buck tag on a dandy 11 point buck at about 15 yards. We were hunting a field edge and late afternoon had 4 doe out in the field when we heard something coming up the bank behind us on my sons side of the stand. He quietly but excitedly said "It's a bear!" several times. The bear popped right out beside us and sniffed our ladder stand steps before sauntering off down the field edge. Looked up at us once but never paid us any mind but talk about a cool experience. A little later in the afternoon we had 16 deer including 4 bucks out until the wind shifted and we got busted by a doe who blew and cleared the field. My son was a little bummed but I said it's early, they'll be back and they were. Not long later does started coming out and eventually 4 different bucks. As they fed towards us someone was noisily riding an atv on the neighboring property and being a quiet night they sounded really loud which again, mostly cleared the field. However one deer remained unconcerned and that buck kept feeding towards us eventually providing a broadside shot and my son nailed him. He ran about 25 yards up a slight hill and fell over backwards, stood up chewing his cud and then eventually went down in the high weeds. We're high fiving and celebrating. I called my dad and told him and my son wanted to call mom but while he was talking to mom the buck picks his head up. He was wheezing and eventually stood up. I had lowered the bow to the ground but when he picked his head back up I hurriedly pulled it back up and cocked it. The buck started to move and I took a hurried shot at him at an unknown distance and the bolt went under him. He ran across the field edge and then silence. I got down but couldn't see him and still amazed he was able to do all that after what looked like a great shot. We decided to back out and wait an hour and half only to find him in some high grass out of sight, he didn't go far. Pics below are from when we found him and the bear at the bottom of our ladder stand. Last pick is his buck on a plaque ready to hang in his room. linklinkI've been fortunate to have a close but no cigar opportunity on a coyote and also got to see a bobcat at about 10 yards this season. Last Saturday morning was a perfect day, cold but no wind and the sun came up quick to warm things up. I had see a fork horn chase a doe past my stand early so that was a good sign. About 8:10 I spotted a nice buck higher on the hill. As he got closer I decided he was a shooter but at his current path he was going to pass by out of range. I gave a soft grunt and he stopped and picked his head but started walking again. Two more soft grunts and he turns and walks slowly towards me eventually turning broadside at about 28 yards. I let the shot go and he mule kicked and took off visibly spewing blood all over the place. He went about 40 yards behind some brush and collapsed sending a decent sized branch high into the air on collapse. I called my dad and told him to head over and then I got down and went up to where I shot him and was amazed at the blood trail, a blind man could have found this buck. Found the buck where I saw him collapse. The rage broadhead made a 3-4 inch entrance wound but there was no exit wound and I found the arrow about 10 feet from where the buck died. I must have hit the far shoulder on the nice double lung shot. He's currently off to get a euro mount so should have him back this week. We both still have two doe tags but will likely save them for rifle season. This will certainly be a season to remember for both of us! link40 yards of blood trail like this 3-4 feet wide, was amazing. link

I think the young lady in the black dress is looking over Ridge's passed-out body on the floor asking him...."Do you need CPR?"...and then she said......"Old guy in need of mouth-to-mouth....and I ain't gonna touch it!!!"
