This topic made me laugh. Several years ago while mowing at the club, spotted a morel. I don't "do" 'shrooms. As I told a now deceased member that gathered them for years, my mushrooms come in a little can that sez B'n B on it. So one of trap monkeys asked me if I'd seen any morels while cruising the place on my mower. Told I'd seen one earlier that day and gave him directions. He failed to find it, blamed me for giving bad directions. Even accused me of telling him there was one, when there wasn't. The next day another trappie that had heard me tell the doofus where the morel was, went right out there and scored it. That touched off a years long haggle, over whether or not there really was a morel. Or I'd told the doofus there was one, just to pizz him off. Not that I wouldn't have done such a thing, had I thought of it? We tend to pick on him, partly because he had an Obama decal on his little SUV for eight years. And that is not his worst habit, will argue about anything, even when he knows he's wrong. Have to remember to tell him there were thousands of morels this year, if I happen to see him.

Bes sure to send Obama Boy to the side of a very steep mountain for them. See if you can convince limbernoodle to join him, while yer at it.

Had a lovely hike last Saturday covered 11.2010342 Kilometers. Heard my first grouse drumming of the year and came home with two Chanterelles which was just enough to cover my mushroom swiss cheese burger for supper. No hikers were injured during this hike except for my legs when I tried to stand up after picking two mushrooms then when I tried to get out of the truck arriving home.

Never trust a drummer named "Sandy"
John, Keith, Buddy, Ringo, Charlie...... but not "Sandy".

But... I do thank ye for bringing Sandy Duncan to mind, limbernoodle. She was quite a looker back in the day.

On another hike today in NY State covered 5.90629248 Kilometers for those fluent in foreign measurement and observed one hen of the woods and a bunch of jack o lanterns. Looked real good for a pumpkin pie but I passed.

took the kayak out for the last run of the season on a picture perfect morning...the conditions were perfect, cloud cover 0 wind fishing was so so but along comes a guy and dog and they proceed to work on water retrieves which I found watching much more enjoyable then mediocre fishing. They left and few more casts and I called it over for me.
Loaded the kayak and started for home. To my left was SGL and to my right State Park Pisgah to be exact all of a sudden something catches my eye at the base of a beech tree. I slam on the brakes and carefully & quietly sneak up and due to my stealth the hen was still there.. There were two but I quick as a wink grabbed the one. I could have grabbed the other as it just sat there but the one was enough.
Road hunting was productive.

I never have that type of luck road hunting. And plum never EVER saw one getting cozy with a Beech tree. My 70 yo pard, "Grouchy", swears he can smell 'em as he rides around with the window down. Myself, I think it's the "boros" he's tokin' clouding his olfactory sense. Each time I mention that, he gets, well..... "Grouchy".

It's not luck. It's just a matter of clean living and a clear mind. You'll want to write that down.
