Looked back through my turkey kill record & found my 2nd most memorable kill as how hard I hunted trying to work one in. A Sullivan County longbeard killed back in 2014. 22 lbs, 9.5" beard w/1.25" hookers. Will post-up later my current best. Hunted the entire first balmy first week putting many miles boots on the ground & finally brought this one in with my Cody Drop Dead slate. Weather all of a sudden got really cold last day of week & think that's what turned him on. He likely was Lookin for sumpin to warm-up with!!

A killer every time!!Year: 2020 2nd week headed to my Sullivan County Camp to hunt Monday & Tuesday. Hunted Loyalsock State Forest both days. Monday I combed those rugged Sully ridges for approx 13 miles per pedometer walking slow, stopping/calling with no gobbling. Beautiful day but quiet. Monday night temps dropped to low 30's so a a brisk morning was in store next day. Tuesday morning headed to south/eastern side of a huge Loyalsock SF trek thinking it would warm-up a lil faster. I was not more than 1/2 mile from truck and had 2 young hens answer and pass within 20 yards. Then quiet next 2 hours. I was alternating between my Cody 6.5 One Slider and my Kip's Feroce Hardwood Whacker box calls. Both are fairly loud calls great for long distance calling in the big mountain woods. All of a sudden I got a a single/faint gobble sounding like several hundred yards out the ridge. It was barely audible. Then nothing for at least a half hour. I slowed initial calling down to once in about every 5 minutes.....nothing. Then all of a sudden he appeared like a ghost off to my right about 30 yards as he silently came in all that distance. He was moving like a snail in a small thicket but got to a small opening & my crosshairs were already squarely on his head. A stout load of Federal Heavyweights no 7's from my Browning Gold 12 ga 3.5" Magnum/fitted with a Trulock choke flopped him like a load of bricks. His head was pretty much pulverized. My longbeard weighed 23 lbs with 10" beard w/1.25" spurs:

I had one turkey kill in my game kill log that's certainly memorable although I have no pics. It was my very first turkey killed back in 1963...a hen taken on a SGL in Sullivan County while hunting with my Dad & Grandpa. I took it was my Model 20 J.C. Higgins 2.75" 12 ga pump w/ole slotted polychoke which was the first gun Dad bought me when I started hunting. The gun is still in my gun safe today. Will never forget the handshakes/congrats hugs from Dad & Pap!!

There's only 6 active on the board... not including myself, as I'm not a fine hunter. You should feel privileged. Your thread has garnered close to 90% board participation.

Sorry. I'm a lover, not a hunter. Not enough room in my life for both. Maybe retirement ?

Sorry. I'm a lover, not a hunter. Not enough room in my life for both. Maybe retirement ? Not too difficult handling being a "lover" & a "hunter" plus in being "retirement" mode. Sounds like you need a lil self examination? Life has a lot to offer!! Searching

My most memorable hunt occurred back in 2015 and I'm certainly not going to rehash it here. It's posted on this forum but you'll have to search for it. I'm sure most of you fellows remember it.

Will do. I'll check that "life" stuff out, once I get through this endless mountain of "lovin'" stuff I have to currently endure. Thanks for the pro tip.
