Got just a tad windy out there this am. Heard two gobblers on the roost not far (150yds for the further one....about 100 for the close one). Once fly down occurred they shut up and I believe went with the hens.
To windy to make effective calls.....but I did pull out my box call and "yelled" after about 2 hours of nothing. Then I still got nothing. Quit around 9:30.....needed a coffee and a cinnamon roll.

I was calling for my son. Heard alot of gobblin at daybreak, but they quit at 6:30. At 9:30, 3 came in quiet, and they busted him when he put the gun up. Maybe next time.

I was out this am. Not a peep before sunup no matter how hard that crow call yelled! I didn't hear or see a thing from 6:00 to 8:00 so I decided to pack up. But I did a drive around the property (which the road also includes a few adjacent proprieties). I was driving up to the "bottom gate" and what is crossing the dirt road???.....Yeah. Not a gaggle of geese!!.. About 6 hens and at least two gobblers in full strut!!
Well.....I know where they are and about the time they come thru......if they follow form!!

Its time the PGC starts getting creative. All this talk of license fee increases yet they set everything up to prevent criminals from shhoting something then buying a tag. You really think they will buy a tag just because they shoot a second turkey? I never know what my schedule looks like so never buy the second tag. The option would be nice though instead of the deadline.

Yeah I agree. No reason you can't buy it in season imo . Sucks if you are lucky enough to harvest one early and then a unplanned memorial day hunting opportunity comes up and you can't get a tag...

I remember having to forfeit my ONE antlerless tag (you were only allotted one), in order to get a Flintlock Stamp. AND you had to get the Flinter stamp by the end of July. How screwy was that ? So, I reckon the moral of the story is...… sometimes they learn from their mistakes, and correct them ?  |

I'm pretty sure you can buy a bear license any time during the season Yep I bought mine on Sunday the day after it opened. I was planning on going at the last minute I went. They made money because of it. Why is spring gobbler any different? Why do people have to spend money they dont always have just in case? |
