Some folks run a little case lube inside the necks to avoid cold welding. That is how I was always taught how to reload.

turkeykiller, I pulled those down and redid them and shot from the bench and the scope was right where it was before this occurred . That was the first time it ever happened to me ! It won't happen again ! As to folks saying they have ammo 30 years old or how ever they have never had it may happen to them . Could be ?

1st light, I had maybe a box of 20 loaded and they set on the shelf. I had figured they were very good so I didn't use them at the range but held them for hunting. I should have shot them I guess prior to season but had a few fresh ones I used from the bench ! I see now that was a mistake ? I load and shoot for 7 or more rifles and was working on them cause I though I had that 308 all figured out ? It will be a lesson to me and I from that day on will not store loads over 6 months !

Thats good news, but I still think by not tryin the bullets on the bench before pullin them, you eliminated the possibility of human error on your misses. Again, I am not pickin onya, only statin a possibility.

Nobody knows whether they have cold welding going on unless they take one of the rounds and seat the bullet a bit deeper. It doesn't always relate to poor accuracy. That is totally dependent on the degree to which the surfaces have welded together.

That Brad guy said he's a full-fledged horses ass and has the papers to prove it.I personally thought the guys was a genius though.
